The purpose of the exemplary awards program is to recognize and encourage
outstanding achievement by peer mentors working with learning community students.
The exemplary service awards provide an opportunity for faculty, staff, and
students to express appreciation for mentors who set positive examples for
students and support the academic goals of Iowa State University.

2007-08 Learning Community Exemplary Mentors
Undergraduate students currently serving as learning community mentors who have never received an exemplary mentor award are eligible. Mentors who have received either of the awards in the past are not eligible for additional awards.
The learning community coordinator and a learning community student must submit letters of nomination by the specified due date for the mentor to be eligible for the award. Completed packets are due to Jen Leptien in 3024 Morrill Hall on or before Monday of exam week. (Fall Semester)
Nomination packets are reviewed by an independent panel and exemplary mentors are announced in the Spring semester.
Additional criteria will be mailed to learning community coordinators in November.
If you have questions concerning the nomination process, please call or email Jen Leptien, 294-1948, jenl@iastate.edu.
