The Curriculum Development and Enhancement Sub-Committee is pleased to announce several awards for exemplary contributions to Iowa State University Learning Communities. We are now accepting nominations for this year’s awards, which will be announced at the Iowa State University Learning Communities Institute on May 7, 2007. Please share this information with others who may be interested in submitting award nominations. Self-nominations or nominations by others are welcome.
This award will honor members of the Iowa State community who have made new and creative contributions to learning communities. The primary criterion for the award is innovation; i.e., the introduction of new developments that have extended the horizons of learning communities at Iowa State and enhanced learning for our students. Areas of innovation might include novel curricular plans, effective cross-disciplinary collaborations, creative integration of students’ social and intellectual lives, imaginative responses to student needs, effective coordination of multiple facets of the learning community experience, or any other contribution that has extended the boundaries of learning communities at Iowa State.
Nominees for the Outstanding Innovation Award may include individuals, specific partners in a learning community, or the entire staff of a learning community. Nominations should consist of a one to two page letter and any relevant supporting materials. Please limit the application packet in no more than 15 pages. Supporting materials can include course syllabi, promotional materials, summaries of student evaluations, student or colleague commendations, and/or any other evidence that supports the nomination.
This award will honor an individual or a research team that has significantly contributed to the scholarship of learning communities. Scholarship may include publications that are technical papers, conference proceedings, journal articles, capstones, theses, or dissertations that have been published, accepted for publication, or submitted and in review during the past two years (2005 to present). Awards will be presented to both faculty/staff and graduate students. Nominations should consist of a one page letter about the nominee(s) and a copy of the scholarly manuscript.
This award will honor an individual who has significantly contributed to the advancement of learning communities at Iowa State University. Nominations should consist of a one to two page letter.
This award will honor an individual in the Iowa State community who has demonstrated the spirit of learning communities through collaboration. Nominations should consist of a one to two page letter.
This award will honor an individual department or office that has partnered with and supported learning community initiatives at Iowa State University. Nominations should consist of a one to two page letter.
